Schlaraffia in Dover — a Reych with a history

The Newarka is part of the worldwide Schlaraffia — a fellowship of men given over to humour, friendship and the arts. As Reych number 105 we are set in a global network of more than 200 Reyche on every continent.

Men from Dover and round about meet here regularly for our Sippungen — evenings full of humour, art and real fellowship. Profession, title and the pressure of the day stay outside. Inside, only one thing counts: the man, his wit, his talent and his warmth.

🦉 Did you know? The word Reych is the Schlaraffian name for the local chapter. Every Reych has its own name, its own coat of arms and its own history — held together by the common Schlaraffen game.

Our fellowship

What binds our members is not profession or background — it is the shared delight in the game. All interested men are equally welcome here. Whether we suit one another, time will show.

Guests are warmly welcome — without notice except on special dates, or at any time after a short word. A visit commits you to nothing and costs nothing.

Schlaraffia Dover

Trutze Passaica der Fuchsbau

Our castle stands in Dover, New Jersey, some fifty kilometres west of Newark — 56 Conger Street. The name holds the origin fast: the Passaic is the river of Newark, and a Trutze is a stronghold. The Fuchsbau — the fox's den — explains itself once you go down the stairs.

What awaits you there: panelled walls with a century hanging on them — coats of arms, portraits, charters, the shields of the friendly Reyche. The red runner between the tables. The Fungierpult with the owl. The sword stands with their beribboned blades. A piano and a big drum, because nothing works without music.
